Exhibition information

Nadine decorates hand-thrown stoneware ceramics with painted surfaces that reflect her deep connection to nature and her admiration for Japanese shin-hanga aesthetics. Her work blends traditional ceramic craftsmanship with painterly expression, transforming each vessel into a quiet landscape.

Using oxides, layered sponging, and watercolor-like effects, she builds soft atmospheres and organic textures that echo natural rhythms. The surfaces feel both spontaneous and meditative, inviting the viewer to slow down and observe subtle variations in tone and movement. Each piece becomes a dialogue between clay, pigment, and the natural world that inspires her practice.

Artist information

Nadine began her ceramics journey studying pottery at Sunningwell Art before continuing her training with pottery classes at City of Oxford College. She later trained at Whichford Pottery in the Cotswolds, where she developed strong foundations in traditional throwing techniques.

She is now a member of Sabali Studio, a collective of potters who create and sell work through a range of shops and markets. Nadine continues to expand her practice in both wheel throwing and surface decoration. Her current inspiration is increasingly influenced by Japanese artistic traditions that celebrate the natural world and the changing seasons, expressed through soft, pale pastel colour palettes contrasted with bright splash of colour.
