Artist information
As a new participant in the Artweeks exhibition, I am thrilled to showcase my work.I began my journey into pottery two years ago at Sunningwell School of Arts, followed by a year of study at the City of Oxford College. Currently, I am part of a vibrant collective of potters, where we experiment with clay and continually refine our craft at the Sabali Pots studio in Jericho.
I first turned to pottery as a form of mental and physical therapy. The sheer physicality of shaping raw clay, the unexpected results, and the creative process has been a source of immense joy and healing. Living in Provence has further deepened my connection to the natural world- from the vibrant skies to the inspiring landscapes-which influence my work.
Exhibition information
Through my art, I aim to combine technique with creativity, exploring the endless possibilities of clay and its natural beauty.
I create pottery that showcase bright flowers, whimsical animals and dreamy, evocative landscapes. Some of my designs are inspired by Van Gogh iconic roses and irises. My experimentation includes mixing black and white clay and using the Sgrafitto techniques to embed drawings into stoneware.I handbuilt my pieces using slabbing, coiling and slip trailing techniques, exploring a wide palette of underglaze colours to bring my ideas to life.
