I was born in Perthshire Scotland where my family farm.
I have always loved art, nature, animals, wildlife and Architecture, this led me to study Interior Design at Napier University Edinburgh.
I graduated in 1982 with a Diploma and Associateship in Interior Design and in my fourth year was awarded membership into the British Institute of Interior Designers.
It was at Napier that I found my passion for painting in watercolour. We always had to produce the perspectives of our Interiors in Watercolour.
In 1984 I married and moved to England to join my husband. In 1987 had our first daughter and in 1990 our second.
We lived in Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire over the years.
When living in Gloucestershire we were surrounded by horses. I was inspired to paint those incredibly beautiful animals.
My Father in law was in the Army and he asked me to paint various Military Portraits.
I also painted portraits for family and friends
Recently with the concern of all the worlds problems. Climate change, threat of world peace. I have been inspired to capture the joys and ravishes of nature. I appreciate this precious world more the older I become!
Sunsets, sunrises, wild flowers, insects, rivers, oceans, snowscapes.
Recently I have been stretching watercolour paper onto large canvases, which is new for me. Using big brushes is a challenge, but exciting. Allowing me to be more bold in my approach, finishing a painting quicker, which in turn lends itself to a more abstract painting. I just love the freedom of water color. Magical moments can just happen with washes especially on big canvas. I love depicting special moments.
Our precious world, is out there and free for all.
