Exhibition information

Oil Paintings:

‘Dissimilarly Similar,’ inspired by reflections in wine glasses and being a non-identical twin. Oil on canvas. Framed size 86 x 66 cm. £850

‘Late Night Musings,’ inspired by creating relationships between disparate things. Oil on canvas. Framed size 73 x 53 cm. £850

Soft pastel works:

‘Orange Dragon,’ inspired by the way we want to make sense of what we see. As I was working the orange dragon, birds, wolf and fish emerged as the layers were added. Soft pastel on board. Framed size 90 x 60cm, £650

‘Maiden Blew,’ inspired by orchids and female profiles. Soft pastel on Ingres paper. Framed size 52 x 42 cm, £150

Mono print:

‘Lost,’ inspired by a ‘What if …’ moment. Made by taking a print off a print made using paper stencils, with a high degree of unpredictability. Mono print on paper. Framed size 92 x 71.5 cm. £475

‘Fairie-Seahorse,’ made in a similar way to ‘Lost.’ The paper stencils used were drawn in illustrator or by hand and laser cut. Mono print on paper. Framed size 88 x 65 cm. £425

‘Prayer,’ inspired by the intuitive use of ink through a silk-screen with collaged shapes added. Mono screen print with collage. Framed size 77 x 60 cm £350

Artist information

I have a life-long interest in the nebulous; those thoughts and feelings that are so hard to pin down and explain to others. Though this comes out of deep sadness, the works I make are colourful. I have a definite starting point for each work but love not knowing exactly where it will arrive at, so each one develops organically. I will ask myself, ‘I wonder what will happen if …’ and off I go. For me, exploring the edge of conscious decision and intuition can be uncomfortable but always exciting. I am intrigued by our human predisposition to make sense of what we see and find I make abstract images that suggest objects.
