Artist information
Louise Brook is a multidisciplinary artist, with with an exciting portfolio ranging from bold mixed media abstracts to vibrant wildlife.
Louise is opening her working studio in Middleton Cheney during Oxfordshire Artweeks for the first time in 2025 and will be on hand to welcome visitors and talk about her artistic practice and inspiration. She will give insights into her process and studio tours, alongside an exhibition of her work in her home. Original artwork and affordable merchandise (including prints, mugs, coasters, greetings cards and more) will be available to purchase.
Louise's abstract work is created from a place of curiosity, combining her love of learning and research with her artistic practice. Recent collections have explored time, the cost-of-living crisis, biodiversity loss, and the evolution of human intelligence; a fascination with psychology, the complexity and layers of the human experience, and the beauty and fragility of the natural environment are all recurring themes.
Louise describes her artistic process as a dance between the intuitive and the intentional. Working predominantly with acrylics and mixed media, Louise creates depth and interest through rich layers and textural detail. Collage and layers are an integral part of Louise’s practice, creating intrigue, informing her narrative, and providing glimpses into the artistic journey.
Louise's artistic journey began with pet portraits and wildlife work and she has a steady stream of commissions on this side of her practice throughout the year. She is passionate about making her art available and accessible to all and has worked with small UK based businesses to create a range of beautiful, high-quality art merchandise featuring her most popular designs.
Louise gained a degree in Psychology from UCL (2000), going on to a successful career in finance and sales, leaving this in 2019 to pursue a career in the Arts.
Since 2022, Louise has exhibited in several major cities across the UK, her 2024 exhibitions include: The Mill Arts Centre, Banbury; The Heseltine Gallery, Middleton Cheney; Northants Open Studios, Lamport Hall; Nottingham Society of Artists, Nottingham; Art from Heart (NATURA), Kensington, London.
