Artist Statement
Lindsay is an abstract artist and her process has a strong basis in observation and experience of the natural world.
Lindsay predominantly uses drawing, painting, reclaimed textiles and found objects to explore ideas about inheritance, consciousness and place. How we receive, process and reconstruct the places, lands, thoughts and feelings that are handed down to us. And what we in turn, both consciously and unconsciously, choose to pass on.
“I explore authenticity and imperfection of medium and mark-making, balance and tension in the interplay of composition and colour to create pieces imbued with the complex, often contradictory and sometimes confusing relationship between self, history and place - emotions such as nostalgia, peace, joy, unease and melancholy.”
