Artist information
"The divine is everywhere, even in a grain of sand."
— Caspar David Friedrich
I am a self-taught artist working primarily in pastels, drawn to landscapes, cultural landmarks, and places imbued with history and personal meaning. My work explores the interplay between solitude and warmth, stillness and movement—capturing not just a place, but a presence.
Many of my early paintings were personal gifts, created to evoke memory and sentiment. Now, I share my work more widely, offering original pieces and commissions that invite reflection and celebrate the beauty of quiet moments. Whether a misty hillside, an ancient ruin, or a countryside path, my paintings aim to preserve the atmosphere of fleeting, yet significant, experiences.
I live in Oxfordshire with my wife and young son, whose curiosity often sparks inspiration. My work has found homes with collectors who resonate with both its visual depth and the stories behind each piece. Whether you are seeking an original artwork, a commissioned piece of a place that holds meaning for you, or simply a painting that speaks to your sense of belonging, I would love to collaborate.
Exhibition information
I work primarily in pastels, a medium that allows for both delicate softness and striking intensity. My art is deeply influenced by the Romantic tradition, particularly the interplay between light, landscape, and emotion. I am drawn to scenes that evoke a sense of mystery, nostalgia, and quiet contemplation—windswept hills, mist-laden fields, ancient ruins, and solitary cottages.
Much of my work explores the boundary between the real and the ethereal, where the familiar world takes on an almost dreamlike quality. I aim to capture not just the physical beauty of a place, but the atmosphere—the way light shifts across a moorland, the weight of silence before a storm, the lingering presence of history in an old church or forgotten path.
I see my paintings as invitations—to step into a landscape, to feel its solitude or serenity, to experience a moment suspended in time. Whether inspired by real locations or imaginative reworkings, each piece is an attempt to preserve something fleeting yet deeply resonant.
