Drawings and paintings of people, places and every-day things.
For this year's Artweeks I have a virtual show. There is a small selection of works here, mostly portraits, but you can find many more drawings available as limited edition individual prints or montages on my website – planetkev.co.uk. I also have a few pieces in an exciting and varied community exhibition in Cassington Village Hall from 15th to 21st May (Artweeks Site 310), and others in The Eynsham Art Window (62 Mill Street Eynsham) which you can see if you take the Eynsham Artweeks Trail (Sites 302 to 309).
After a long career in graphic design I now spend much of my time drawing and painting. I kick-started the habit in 2018 with a daily sketching project. One of my early sketches of a grater was accepted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition which, together with an encouraging response to the project on social media, gave me the incentive to continue. Many of these have been made into limited edition prints or montages, or were the inspiration for other pieces which you can find on my website (click the yellow panel above), with more about the project and a flip-book on the blog pages.
After over 1000 drawings I chose to move on and concentrate on other works, initially still mostly drawings, but more recently portraits and other paintings in oils.
When not painting portraits I am drawn to every-day objects, ideas which amuse me and, most recently, obscure or overlooked places. I'm hoping that 'Please use other door', a small painting in oils, is just the first of many in this vein and look forward to sharing more in Artweeks next year.
