Artist information
I trained as a fine artist, completing a BA in Fine Art at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, as well as Diploma in Digital Media at Vega, the Brand Communications School. In my early career, I created large-scale paintings, charcoal drawings, and mixed media installations, and worked across design, animation, and video production. I now live in the Chilterns with my fiancée Mike and our dog, Dexter.
Alongside my art, I’ve spent many years working as a management consultant, helping to shift behaviour across large organisations. I often draw on my creativity in corporate settings, especially when it comes to storytelling, communication, and creating change at scale. I’m also a pianist and a singer, and creative expression in all its forms has always been a constant for me. Art remains one of the most meaningful ways I think, observe, and make sense of the world.
Exhibition information
I work mostly in charcoal and chalk on coloured paper, and I love the simplicity and immediacy of the medium. I focus on figure drawing, often playing with bold forms, light, and shadow. I attend a weekly class at Lewknor Life Drawing, the group I’m exhibiting with, which gives me a chance to practise regularly and explore a wide range of models and poses.
There’s something very grounding and satisfying in the act of drawing. I enjoy the physicality of it, the problem-solving, and the sense of quiet concentration. My work is expressive rather than polished, and I like capturing something honest in a pose or gesture. I sometimes experiment with other media like watercolour and oil, but charcoal is where I feel most at home.
