My art collection is based in my studio in Watlington. This is the second time I have open my doors to the public. I was amazed at the response last year given the Covid restrictions. I met so many lovely people. I am really looking forward to this year - hopefully seeing some of you again and also meeting some new people. I have been busy filling my walls with more colour and textures. Once again a joyful experience.
My work revolves around recycled textiles and other media including jewellery, beads, and clay
It could be titled Lost, Found and Unwanted, as most of my work has been given a new lease of life using recycled fabrics gathered in from wonderful places. Most of my artwork has an interesting story to tell either where the materials came from or the picture it’s self.
The collection is full of colour bringing nature, scenes and faces to life. In producing work I follow a very organic process and let the textures and colours dictate the flow. I find this a really satisfying process and hope that you will enjoy joining me to see the results.
Sometimes, as you get older, you realise that you you are not ready for "the pipe and slippers". Well I chose a bit of a quirky and, at times, unusual path. Firstly, a bit of back packing. Amazing opportunities to see some of the great wonders of this world and the people who live in it. I was inspired by the wonderful arts and crafts that I came across, and the amazing use of colours and fabrics.
These experiences inspired me to look deeper into re-using and up-cycling items in a creative way. I started to focus on designing, making more use of old, interesting materials and giving them a new lease of life using a bit of imagination and experimenting with many different techniques.
Building on my passion for art, the pleasure and inspiration that I got from visiting galleries, I began to experiment with creating pictures from textiles and other materials that I had gathered over time. I realised that this is how I wanted to develop and have now focused on producing pictures using recycled materials, reflecting my passion for works of art.
