Exhibition information
I draw from life and from the many photographs I take; in gardens, local woodland, coast, and countryside. These drawings are often used as source material to develop work; which might be drawings, paintings, prints or works in mixed media. I hope to hold onto the essence of these images by working in an open-ended way; considering which materials and techniques will get me closer to the idea. Current themes concern moments in time; glimpses; transient things noticed on walks and journeys; shadows noticed and drawn.
Recently I have been working with one image creating paintings, drawings and prints on different surfaces. In particular, I have been trying out ways to use screenprinting techniques in a painterly way; working with the sometimes unexpected and chance discoveries to resolve the prints.
