Julia Benning
Jewellery Maker
Julia started working with silver whilst working as a valuer at a London auction house. Privileged to see and handle some truly amazing works of art, she was inspired to find out how these pieces were created and enrolled on a jewellery evening class – taught by fellow exhibitor Jan Richardson!
Julia makes classic, wearable jewellery. She works in silver and gold and often adds precious and semi-precious stones to her work.
She enjoys learning, experimenting, and developing new ideas. Julia is currently half way through a Fine Jewellery Diploma, which is both challenging and inspiring. Her imagination has been captured by Keum Boo; an ancient Korean gilding technique used to apply thin sheets of gold to silver. Julia uses 24 carat gold accents on textured or fine silver to produce uniquely decorated pieces.
