Artist information
I trained at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford and Suffolk College, as well as completing an MA in Modern History at St. Hugh's College, Oxford and a post-graduate Certificate in Architectural History. I have lived in Suffolk for forty years and was inspired by its estuaries, churches and timber framed buildings. I now live to the west of Oxford, where I have a small studio.
I find inspiration in the shape and form of the beautiful world around me, whether natural or man-made, and in history and literature.
My preferred medium is oil, both portraits and landscapes, but I also love to work in inks to produce fine, detailed drawings. I have recently enjoyed exploring Oxford, both some of the classic views and the finer detail to be found within the city. I also use soft metals with stone to create unusual bas-relief work and find creating something beautiful and unique with these physical elements very satisfying.
