Artweeks 2023 will once again be a combination of joyous paintings (Neil Butterfield) and gorgeous jewellery (Vicky Cumming) with sculpture. The venue is on the edge of Port Meadow and is both in the garden and house. My sculptures are predominantly stoneware and can be situated outside or indoors. We look forward to seeing you.
Having been told in 'no uncertain terms' to stop art at a very young age, my involvement in Artweeks and the creative world continues to surprise, delight and frustrate me! In 2016, attending the Phoenix Studio, Towersey near Thame for another reason, I had stumbled into a local sculpting venue with an expert and ever-patient tutor (Karin Ort). After a couple of weekend courses, I was hooked and have been attending for regular classes with life models since 2017. This has been augmented by some weekends at the Art Academy (London) with Jessica Wetherly and the Sculpture School.
The pandemic introduced a different style with more extreme and 'exuberent' postures, mainly of the female form. These are continuing to be developed.
I have a fascination for the Raku process and vibrant colour which has resulted in animal images also appearing. There is more diversity in the sculptures this year. I will continue along this unexpected path.....
