Artist information
Jacqueline Pearce
Passionate about the transformative and healing nature of art and, following a career as a nurse and teacher of art and design, Jackie graduated from Goldsmiths University with an M.A in Art Psychotherapy.
Jackie has worked in schools, forensic units, adult mental health for 12 years and currently works as an art therapist in new and developing virtual service, Step Care Hospital @ Home with people who experience eating disorders.
Trained as a conceptual artist Jackie works with mixed media, photography, print making, painting drawing, sculpture and installations.
Jacki's art practice is integral to processing the emotional, physical and spiritual response to her work as an art therapist. Never fixed, her art practice continually evolves.
Particularly interested in working with found objects she is compelled to gather the broken, the discarded and lost, reimagining each objects story, creatively repurposing them as art.
Exhibition
In the increasingly topsy turvy world we inhabit today, when we are so connected, yet not connected, when lies become truths and truths, and truths become lies, when we cannot believe the evidence of our own eyes Jackie has felt compelled to gather lost, forgotten remnants of her own life, to trace back, to unearth, reveal, remember.
Using forgotten letters, photographs, poetry and art work, Jackie has created an art installation to help remember her connections, remember what is truly important, to ground herself in a reality of her own making.
