Artist information
In the past I have worked in glass and continue to do some work in that medium, but more recently have found myself drawn to working with paper, using papier maché as well as creating the railway style posters that I am focusing on for Art Weeks.
Exhibition information
I have always loved old railway posters, the ones that were at their most popular 100 years ago - but still collected and cherished today. They were created to encourage people to visit new places, so they weren't just beautiful works of art. They had a purpose too.
I try to capture the same love of the English countryside that they celebrated. I like their vibrant colour and energy, capturing the beauty of old buildings and their settings.
Many of our old pubs and small country businesses are dying out so part of my purpose is to capture these in my home area and help promote them.
I usually print my posters at A4 or A3 size and sell them from as little as £15, with all proceeds going to local charities.
