Using only natural light and her camera, photographer and artist Emmi Hyyppä captures the ordinary turning it into something extraordinary. Her work materialises as painterly landscapes, tactile textures and portraits of our Mother Earth.
Grown up roaming the forests of Finland, she now continues the explore the landscape of Oxfordshire, nature staying a constant presence in her life. In her work Emmi looks at the relationship between human and nature. She continuously challenges herself to work both with nature and at its mercy.
Light is a strong inspiration in her work, for its changing quality, its briefness, and its ability to paint the world beautiful. She studies the interaction between light and shadow, and strives to always capture the exact right moment of light.
Emmi has a Master’s Degree in Fashion Photography from the University of the Arts London and has studied photography and art in Finland. Her background in fashion and art is ever present in her photography work. Her work has been shown in several solo and group exhibitions in Finland and the UK.
