Exhibition information
Operating at the intersection between craft and art, I create furniture, sculpture and functional objects from sustainably sourced wood.
Having trained as a cabinet maker at the Rycotewood Furniture Centre here in Oxford, my work blends traditional craftmanship with the aesthetics of geometric abstraction and reflects a love of nature, the distant past, mythology and folklore.
Interested in tactility and critical of the stark clinical sterility of mass-produced contemporary minimalism, I draw inspiration from the pre-industrial past and embrace asymmetry, rugged biomorphic forms and irregular direct-carved textured surfaces.
Utilising the natural warmth and colour of wood, and through the introduction of playful subversive details, I strive to make expressive narrative-driven pieces which delight both hand and eye.
For 2025, I will be exhibiting with the Oxfordshire Craft Guild (OCG) at the beautiful St Barnabas Church in Jericho (50 Cardigan St, Oxford OX2 6BS).
