Artist information

I am first and foremost a father of two young children, and a primary school teacher. This means I lead an incredibly busy life and produce my artwork when time allows. I grew up in Oxford where I went to school before moving to Bournemouth to study design at university. Throughout my adult life, I have experienced different careers, including working as a chef for a number of years through which I met my wife and subsequently settled back in Oxfordshire. I retrained as a teacher in 2010 and have not looked back since. Drawing is an outlet for me and I love to embrace the therapeutic effects it provides. Like many artists who have a regular day job, I strive to fit in as much drawing as I can; time constraints and a busy schedule sometimes means that tools have to be reluctantly downed when other priorities present themselves!

Exhibition information

My art is usually inspired by nature, animals and music. I nearly always opt for blank ink on heavy cartridge paper and love producing art that incorporates much detail, often through the method of stippling with fine-tipped pens. I spend much time producing my pencil lines as accurately as possible before starting the application of permanent archival ink. My favourite tools are Pigma Micron pens and Rotring Isograph pens, I also use Japanese brush pens and fountain pens and an occasional splash of vibrant coloured inks.
