I combine ceramics with illustration, taking inspiration from places I’ve been or things I’ve seen. I make large, thought-provoking illustrative works that combine beauty with humour. They are colourful, detailed and textured. Designed to be picked up and turned over, the drawings onto clay tell a story - a picture book that you as the viewer can read between lines.
My love of art started as a child. At any time you could find me doodling, making doll houses out of cardboard and Sellotape and painting on any surface I could find. I studied art and design at Richmond College and went onto study Fine Art at Nottingham University. After travelling for a few years, I did an evening course in Ceramics and found it such an exciting material to work with. Relaxing to play with and satisfying to paint onto I fell in love with the material. Painting straight onto the tiles, plates or objects I make; I use the surface as my sketchbook.
