Artist information
I threw my first ever pot two years ago and I’ve been mesmerised by wheel throwing ever since. There is a calmness and fluidity to the process of shaping a lump of mud into a refined form on the wheel, like a dance between my hands and the clay. As I hone my throwing skills my work is getting larger and I love the challenge of centring bigger balls of clay.
On display will be a variety of my most recent pieces, including vases, some carved and textural others smooth and curvaceous, candlestick holders and a few bowls and mugs. The forms and surfaces of my pottery are considered, informed by the process and taking inspiration from nature. I aim to make tactile pieces to be used, held and kept.
