Artist information
The Bodleian Library is one of the oldest libraries in Europe, and in Britain is second in size only to the British Library. Known to many Oxford scholars simply as ‘the Bod’, these buildings are still used by students and scholars from all over the world, and they attract an ever-increasing number of visitors.
The Bodleian shops have initiated a programme of selling shows by contemporary artists’ inspired by the libraries’ archives, publications and official exhibition themes, and are excited to introduce a collaboration with Arthouse Unlimited for Oxfordshire ArtWeeks 2026.
ARTHOUSE Unlimited is a charity that proudly showcases the talents of artists living with diverse learning and physical disabilities. The inclusive art sessions provide a safe and collaborative studio space where artists can express themselves freely among peers and the community.
The goal is to empower each artist by recognising and respecting each person’s unique skills, fostering a sense of pride in the work created. Led by experienced art instructors and supported by trained inclusion officers, the studio environment allows artists to produce both group and individual artworks.
These artworks are transformed into a range of products featuring information about the artists and the charity with the aim of achieving full sustainability through the income generated by sales, ensuring the continuity of their mission to empower artists with disabilities through art.
