Artist information
Arabella Ross is a visual artist whose vibrant paintings and collages blend colour, emotion, and storytelling. Inspired by nature and guided by instinct, her work is spontaneous and expressive. Beneath the bold colours, Ross explores deeper emotional themes of grief, loss, and transformation. Through symbolic and subconscious imagery, she creates a universal visual language that speaks to shared human experience.
Arabella proudly honours her Cypriot lineage through her mother’s side, with roots in Nicosia tracing back to her great-grandmother Marie Brain (née Usmiani) and great-great-grandmother Chrystalleni Pierides (1854–1944). She is also a valued member of the Cypriot High Commission’s Cultural website.
The artist has completed a Master’s degree in Fine Art at Chelsea college of Art and a BA Hons fine art (Wolverhampton Polytechnic.) In July 2025 Ross will graduate from three years at Turps Banana Art school’s correspondence course. In 2024 the artist exhibited at the Venice Biennale at the Palazzo Pisani-Revedin. In 2025, Ross’s work has been shown at ‘Europe Art Now’ Art Gotham (New York) and Art Capital, Le Grand Palais (Paris). Her work is held in private collections in London, UK, Europe, North America, and Australia.

Arabella Ross’s paintings and collages are infused with lyrical passion, colour and narrative. Her inspiration derives from nature. The spontaneity in the artist’s work, her passion for materiality and painting upside down is just one method she deploys to free her mind from traditional painting processes and visual tropes. The symbolism and allegory in her paintings are rich and evocative as the artist draws instinctively from subconscious imagery. While often bright and vibrant on the surface, much of the work is rooted in darker emotional terrain; grief, pain and personal loss are central to the process. It is not joy, exactly, but a form of alchemy – transforming sorrow into something that exudes a new lease of life. Ultimately, these symbols become part of a broader language within the work—connecting the personal with the universal, and inviting viewers to find their own interpretations. Ross’s upcoming group exhibition is in New York City at Art Gotham. The artist’s work is found in private collections in London, UK, Europe, North America, and Australia.
