Exhibition information

I would describe myself as an artist who tries to combine both fine art and craft. I specialize in producing a range of handbuilt ceramics – decorative pieces both functional and non-functional, such as vases, bowls, wall lights, lamp bases, mirrors and tiles. These are richly coloured using underglaze colours, slips and brush-on glazes, but I also like creating some unglazed pieces, particularly in terracotta, these are decorated in contrasting slips and/or relief patterns. in addition, I have attempted creating figurative sculptural pieces, one of which is on display in the Art Weeks guide. My style of work is influenced by natural forms such as trees and the movement of light. Also, I use the art, sculpture and textiles from places I have visited in Italy, India and Latin America in my work, and I have also been influenced by Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements.

Artist information

My preliminary training was in architecture – then after children were born, I took up ceramics and studied Crafts Materials at the Lanchester School of Art College in Coventry. There was a further course in City and Guilds in ceramics at Tile Hill College. I have had a solo exhibition at Folly Bridge studio in 2010, and taken part in Art Weeks on several occasions.
