Artist information

Exhibition starts Monday 5th May! My interest in art began at an early age from which stills photography and painting have developed as a note taking exercises to the present. In the voluntary and commercial sector I’ve been blessed to work as a bookbinder and Camera Op for many years. Since moving back to Oxford in 2010 I’ve found more space to stretch canvases and explore creativity outside the commercial world of videography. As evidenced during Artweeks, Oxford provides an environment in which to explore the arts amongst like minded people. I’ve been fortunate enough to take part in various open exhibitions and group crits at Jericho Art, Magdalen Studios as an associate member, and the wonderful Art Salon. Art journeys always expand our view of the world, my most memorable art trips were visiting Cornwall, Paris, Madrid, Moscow and Leningrad, and Wales. That’s not to say local museums and the wealth of exhibitions in London are taken for granted either, swanning around Artweeks each year is always a bonus and I hope to see you with my fellow exhibitors Nadine and Lucy at venue 132.

Exhibition information

Venue 132 can be found near Temple Cowley where Nadine and Robin have very graciously opened their garden studio up for our group show in which I aim to exhibit oil paintings, watercolours and photography. I had a book printed in 2021 of my best digital photos and worried at the time whether fourteen years had been spent merely taking snapshots, what constituted art? Since then I’ve been trying to look at things from that perspective: Working through ideas, Thinking through paintings, Looking through lenses. On the oil and watercolour front my paintings explore a variety of themes including time and value, one of which is a visual puzzle that is studied and described, and hopefully solved. Come along and tell me what you think.
