Artist information
Amy is a mixed media artist whose practice spans vibrant abstract floral painting and intricately folded paper works created from repurposed Waitrose magazines. Working primarily with acrylics, she is known for her expressive use of colour and layered mark-making, creating pieces that capture the movement, energy and rhythm of the natural world. Alongside her painting practice, her folded paper artworks transform discarded printed pages into carefully constructed forms, reflecting her deep commitment to sustainability and the creative potential of reclaimed materials.
After completing a degree in Graphic Design, specialising in illustration, Amy spent ten years working in marketing before exchanging her office desk for a home studio in central Wallingford. This shift marked a return to hands-on making and a renewed focus on materials, texture and process.
Nature is a constant source of inspiration in her work – from the structure of petals and foliage to the shifting colours of seasonal landscapes. Whether painting loose, abstract florals or meticulously folding repurposed paper into sculptural compositions, Amy approaches each piece with a balance of intention and intuition. She describes her process as “considered, not controlled,” allowing space for spontaneity while maintaining a strong sense of composition.
Amy is also Associate Coordinator at Ayres House Studios and co-founded the Textile Hub at Ayres House, a welcoming and collaborative group that brings together practitioners working across a wide range of textile-based mediums. The diversity of techniques, materials and creative voices within the hub continues to inspire and inform her own practice, reinforcing her belief in experimentation, shared knowledge and the value of repurposing materials in contemporary art.
