Artist information
Abingdon Artists is a group of local artists, aiming to integrate art into the Abingdon community by encouraging artistic endeavours in various media among our members and guests. In addition to holding two annual exhibitions of members’ work, Abingdon Artists organises a monthly series of talks, demonstrations and workshops, providing opportunities for individuals to meet and discuss their artistic interests. These events are designed to inspire both those actively creating art, and those who have an interest but do not create their own art.
The group meets at 7.30pm on the second Thursday of each month (except August) at the Northcourt Centre in Abingdon. Non-members are welcome to attend talks and demonstrations for a small fee (see our website for details). Workshops are restricted to members only on a 'first come first served' basis as spaces are limited.
Exhibition information
Our exhibitions are held in Abingdon each Spring and Autumn, featuring a wide range of work from our membership of approximately 100 artists. Additionally, you may see members’ work displayed as 'Artist of the Month' in these Abingdon cafes: Throwing Buns, La Baguette, and Cafe@35 Ock Street. Other popular activities among our members include weekly painting and sketching groups – keep an eye out for us roaming Abingdon on Friday mornings!
