Exhibition information

FIGURES & FACES are all drawn from life, within a restricted time, to maintain a dynamic sense of presence; to keep the movement of the model.

Jill’s has been playing with colour in her more recent works of clothed figures. Until the model turns up she does not know what the colour palette will be.

The drawings/paintings are a rapid visual response. The process is experimental, so there is an element of delight when a piece ‘sings’ out to her. 

You are seeing that end result.

Artist information

Long ago Jill trained as a Contemporary dancer, which fires her interest in movement and the figure. Her journey as an artist has been lifelong but she trained for a BA(Hons) Fine Art in mid-life, and has continued to both teach drawing and develop her own artistic practice. She currently runs small-group workshops. See the Artweeks Workshop page.
