This year at Artweeks, I am focusing on the Cotswolds which are known for their stunning natural beauty which has become a rich source of inspiration for me. Using Mixing media like acrylic paint, collage, and ink has allowed me to achieve a dynamic exploration of color, texture, and depth, which depicted the essence of the Cotswolds in a truly captivating way.
When working with mixed media, I have the opportunity to layer different materials and techniques to create depth and complexity in my artwork. Acrylic paint offers versatility in its application, from translucent washes to opaque layers, while collage adds texture and dimension through the incorporation of various materials. Ink has been used to define details and enhance elements of the composition.
I have responded to elements such as rolling hills, , stone walls, vegetation and flowers, or winding country lanes into my pieces to evoke the charm and tranquility of the Cotswolds. I have experimented with different color palettes to capture the four seasons and the play of light and shadow across the landscape.
This year, my exhibition will give me the opportunity to share my unique perspective on the Cotswolds with others, inviting them to see the region through my eyes!
Teaching these various techniques is a major part of the way that I work at the studio. In response to this, I will have a comprehensive list of monthly workshops available for interested people to book onto to learn the excitement of mixed media.
