In our exhibition will share how we have translated our observations of the natural world and our locality into paper, stone and metal. We promise you a show full of interest and inspiration. The venue is a home and garden in Bampton, with lots of space to eat cake and drink tea or coffee, which are all free of charge for visitors.
Sue works in ink, charcoal and graphite. In her work, she explores the natural interplay between land, tree and sky. This year she will be sharing new etchings and aquatints as well as recent portrait commissions.
David’s sculptures explore movement and structure inspired by the natural world. His organic work is for both outdoor and in. It is wonderfully textured and tactile. David will be demonstrating his craft at times during the show. David will also be showing some of his recent work in woodturning.
Tamzin's jewellery is drawn from inspiration from the four natural elements as well as inspiration from outside the earth's atmosphere. Tamzin will be personalising jewellery for you on the spot.
We will have originals, prints and cards, as well as smaller stone pieces to enjoy - in fact, prices to suit all pockets.
We look forward to welcoming you.
I make tactile, beautiful sculptures for home and garden inspired by natural forms. I work in stone on a scale from pocket size to big, statement pieces.
My day starts and ends with a dog walk along a tributary of the Thames and the fields and woods that adjoin it, and much of my sculpture work draws from that and from other aspects of the natural world. Crashing waves on an Icelandic beach; trout leaping in front of my dog and me as we swam in a Welsh lake; the multiple image photographs of photography pioneer Eadward Muybridge; the beauty of my wife’s stunning garden; the interlocking circles that our lives and the creatures around us weave; the poetry and images of Rob MacFarlane and Jackie Morris...I work in a variety of stone, often ‘found’ or reused pieces scavenged from building projects or skips, or offcuts from other projects, and sometimes add precious metal leaf. Expect to see stylised animals and birds alongside abstracts drawn from patterns and shapes in nature. More of my work may be seen on facebook @David.Williams.Stonework or instagram @David_Williams_Stonework
In 2023 I was lucky enough to be given a vintage woodturning lathe, and I will this year be exhibiting some of my work in this medium alongside my stonework.
I live and work in Oxfordshire. In addition to my own work, I teach day courses in stone carving.
