Submitted by Esther Lafferty on Wed, 04/05/2022 - 10:09am

On Saturday, the Oxfordshire Artweeks festival begins, taking place across the county over three weeks, and all for free.

Week 1: from Saturday 7th until Sunday 15th May artists in Oxford invite you into gardens, halls, home studios and other spaces. Week 2: from Saturday 14th - Sunday 22nd May discover art and venues across South Oxfordshire and the Vale of the White Horse. Week 3: from Saturday 21st - Sunday 29th May you can visit studios and pop-up exhibitions across North and West Oxfordshire. And for all three weeks there's a giant on-line art showcase of treasures, video tours, virtual art trails & more to discover here and on our social media channels.

The festival guide can be picked up in venues, libraries, tourist information offices, cafés, shops and local information points across the county.

It's our 40th anniversary this year and if you'd like to know more, here's a two-minute read on what it's all about and why it's Fab to be Forty!

Where to start?
We’re delighted to have two venues (1&2; The Jam Factory & John Lewis – Oxford) which together offer a snapshot of the quality and variety of the art across the whole festival. In John Lewis, there are six ‘pockets’ of Artweeks throughout the store including three pods by the lifts – one on each floor – and a café takeover with photography, jewellery, ceramics and glass art. Pick up a mini-map on the way on in so you don’t miss anything.

For cross-disciplinary and experimental approaches in a contemporary art space, a great place to start is OVADA located en route between the two.
