I worked in bio-sciences research, which means that I ask lots of questions and enjoy the technical side of ceramics. After a career developing teaching and e-learning I finally have time to learn to make pots.
I make all my pots on a wheel and particularly enjoy throwing - feeling a shape emerge from a lump of clay. Shaping and turning the semi-dry vessel to form crisp edges. I want my pieces to be both light and functional. I use a range of glazes - some commercial glazes with embedded crystals which expand magically when the pot is fired so each is unique in a range of colours and more muted stoneware glazes in subtle hues.
I live in Oxford, UK with my husband and dogs. I'm lucky enough to have a small studio at the bottom of the garden. My pots are made to brighten a home and to be used. I hope you like them!
