I will be exhibiting as part of the Chapel Arts group on Shirburn St. Watlington During Oxfordshire Art Weeks in May.
I usually paint from photographs - these could range from a room of a National Trust Property or a little characterful cottage or a landscape. I like to try to capture some lovely aging architecture with it’s mellow, subtle colours and fading straightness? I love history of all sorts, local history, genealogy, architecture and natural history. Although I find plenty of inspiration in the buildings and towns and villages here in Oxfordshire sometimes I’ll be tempted to paint from my holiday snaps more distant places. Although I have tried many mediums my main outlet is now watercolours but probably not in what is the traditional idea of watercolours - not those pale washes that look faded before they’ve even been framed. I like to use subtle colours and generally muted shades but not pale and wishy washy. I try to reproduce a realistic representation but my paintings are not at all photographic. I will consider undertaking commissions.
