The challenge of Climate Change and the need to protect our environment for the future have become key issues. In my new work, Winds of Change, I create paintings that increase awareness of the positive aspects of renewable energy, especially wind turbines. I am fascinated by these gentle giants both on land and sea. They harness the power of the wind, create clean energy and the UK has a huge offshore resource. My aim is to capture their movement and grace while exploring how this new technology relates to the landscape.
In my seascapes and paintings of mountains I explore the phenomenon of extreme weather including wild, stormy seas and melting glaciers.
My work aims to evoke a feeling, and capture a sense of place rather than reproduce a direct likeness. I aim to reveal the interplay of light, time and season on both rural and urban landscapes.
I work in a variety of media including oil, acrylic and pastel, using a bold palette and layer upon layer of rich textures.
