I am a member of the Oxford Embroiders Guild and usually have an exhibition piece or two travelling the country with The Guild.
Sadly the coronavirus has put a stop to people seeing my art in person, but that doesn’t mean you cannot buy it.
I am happy to send (at an additional cost) or reserve for collection when we all have the freedom to move around. I hope you enjoy looking at my gallery of work. Alternatively, you may find my exhibits (and more) at my Etsy shop.
I love to work in mixed media, found objects and textiles and usually incorporate free machine embroidery somewhere along the line. My studio is a pretty little summerhouse in the garden surrounded by wildlife and flowers. I am fascinated with layers and textures and the way different mediums can be combined, often with surprising results. I love free machine embroidery and collage and as I never quite know how my work will turn out I allow it to develop organically.
Most of my pieces are slightly wonky and quirky and I find myself inspired by so many things from the natural world to historical artefacts. I have a particular fondness for beach huts and summerhouses.
I like nothing better than to find or reuse something and turn it into something else.
Have a look at what else I do on my website at www.summerhouse65.co.uk and you can buy some of my creations from my etsy shop. (link from website)
You can see a catalogue of my exhibition here.
