I weave poetic pieces, presented in handmade wooden box frames for wall display. I call them 'weavescapes'.
I work on two table looms, with 8 and 16 shafts respectively. Having had a career as a picture professional I have a huge reservoir of imagery, textures, forms, proportions etc in my head. I take great pleasure in experimentation particularly with colour and texture, letting things happen as I 'paint' with yarns and fibres. And the mathematical and construction aspects of weaving hugely appeal to the logical part of myself. Bringing movement into the construction of my pieces is very important to me as it gives them 'life'.
I also enjoy the rhythmic, almost musical nature of themes and patterns, and find weaving to be a highly contemplative activity as it requires tremendous concentration.
