Jo Dixon is an artist working in mixed media, and her work involves a layering of paint, print and collage onto paper or fabric grounds. . Her work is embedded in a relationship to the natural world; observations, feelings, glimpses and memories as experienced in the environment within and around us.
Drawing from these observations, Jo often works outside with most finished pieces being created in the studio. Jo works with textures, marks, colours, and pattern to create a rich surface in response to the feeling of the place, to create a vision with treasures and details hidden and revealed. The mixed media works are layered like a tapestry with colour, light and pattern.
Travel and the experience of different cultures of India, Africa and the Mediterranean are ongoing influences combined with recurring themes of seasonal changes within the garden and landscape.
