After a degree in Ceramics from Bristol and and further study at Saratoga University in New York, I had studios in London and currently in Oxfordshire. I combined teaching and producing hand made ceramics.
I changed from stoneware to earthenware when I began focusing on hand drawn decorations featuring foliage and exotic birds as the lower firing temperatures allowed a greater colour range, Designs are developed from drawings from travels in Africa and Central America and are scratched into soft clay with a needle tool, a scraffito technique. Oxides and underglaze colours are sponged and painted on.
