At the time of writing, I will only be exhibiting online for Artweek 2020, but check this site for updates. Please browse this gallery or visit me on my Instagram, Facebook, and my website and do feel free to call or email me. The paintings in this gallery are a selection of available small gouaches done around Oxford and on recent visits to France, Portugal, and Italy. They have become poignant reminders of freedom and travel, of people in markets and cafes - of a world gone by and hopefully soon to return.
Prices quoted include my usual framing; paintings can also be purchased unframed or mounted and wrapped for roughly 20% less. Please be in touch if you wish to buy or discuss anything.
In the last month at home, I have launched an exciting new enterprise with my set-designer daughter, Phoebe, creating online workshops, please visit us @shakespeare_art_studio
My Artweek/Ashmolean Museum project, Creating Keepsakes, working with the charity ' Peeple ', will be on display in the Greece Gallery when the museum re-opens, you can see it online on site 456.
I divide my time between painting and teaching. My teaching includes multiple projects with The Ashmolean Museum Education department, Life Drawing at The Ruskin Art School, a part-time job at St Clare's, and various other courses and workshops. As mentioned above, I have a new enterprise doing creative workshops online with my daughter. In my painting, I try to be adventurous with materials, continuing to explore encaustic and fresco techniques. Many years as a muralist and decorative painter still feed into my studio practice and my teaching techniques; but I find one of the most intense a pure creative experiences is painting small gouaches 'en Plein air'. This year, I have been going out on my bicycle to paint locally, wrapping up warm to catch winter sunsets on Port Meadow or the first signs of spring in the Oxford parks, I also managed to fit in trips to France, Italy, and Portugal before being confined to the garden studio!
