Due to Coronavirus, I will also be exhibiting virtually on Open Studios West Berks & North Hants 2020 website.
Faye began painting a couple of years ago, taking classes with local artist Jane Vaux. Having spent some time searching, she has found acrylics with palette knives, instead of brushes, to be the best way to express her creativity.
She lives in a beautiful, old thatched cottage near Lambourn in Berkshire where the surrounding countryside and the changing of the seasons influence her use of bold, vibrant colours and texture. Work has recently been completed to transform the upper floor of the barn into a light and spacious studio with the room required to accommodate larger canvases.
Faye prefers to work on two or three paintings simultaneously, moving from one thought process to the next to keep a fresh approach. The themes of freedom, relaxation and oneness with nature have been attributed to her work, finding their impressionist form in the depiction of gardens, wild swimming, wistful beaches and studies of horses and birds.
Of her work, she says: ’To me, painting isn’t just the interpretation of a view or a certain place, it’s a feeling. I want people to move beyond thought, when they look at my work, and go straight to their sensations!’
