Winner of the Unison Colour Non Members Award at the annual Pastel Society exhibition at The Mall Galleries in February 2020 with the pastel drawing titled 'Unleashed'. This was a total surprise as I was already excited just to have been selected to exhibit! I love Unison Pastels and use them all the time so it was doubly thrilling to be awarded their prize and a large box of new pastels so I can continue to create!

Alison Berrett went to Exeter College of Art and Design and studied Fine Art. She then trained to be an Art Teacher and has since taken various teaching roles, been a mother, a freelance artist, a workshop leader and a practitioner and Manager of The Art Room using art in a therapeutic setting. She has had exhibitions in Oxford and London and is now working full time as an artist and continues to work freelance using art as therapy and to facilitate joy and confidence.
My work is based around elements of landscape, seascape, colour and mark making. I live in Oxfordshire and am surrounded by expansive skies and space with the beautiful Cotswold landscape near by and I love it. However, I grew up by the coast and I love everything about being near the sea so I regularly go to favourite destinations, usually Devon and Cornwall, to draw and paint the sea and coastline. When I come back to my studio I then have a collection of drawings, marks, colours and shapes which help remind me of the experience of being there. These then become further drawings in pastel or paintings and collages which take on abstract elements and are sometimes metaphorical.
I work small and large and I like to have several pieces on the go simultaneously. I hope you enjoy the online Artweeks exhibition I have put together - I have created a special page for this so please visit by clicking this link https://www.alisonberrettartist.com/oxfordshire-artweeks-2020 where you will see a much wider range of my work which is all available to buy here https://www.alisonberrettartist.com/for-sale .
