Whether for the home, the pub, the church or the university, Bates and Lambourne have made furniture for them all, from the acclaimed Mash Inn at Radnage, to the chapel of The Royal Marines' Barracks in Plymouth, to more than a dozen Oxford College dining halls. We work to commission, specialising in using British grown solid hardwoods. We are helping to keep alive the local art of Windsor chair making, with both traditional and new designs, as well as making tables and all manner of other cabinet work. Designing, prototyping, making and polishing are all done in our workshops at Milton Common. Visitors may see a wide range of finished pieces as well as many projects in the making at all stages of process, from the sawn planks to final article. On top of the usual machining and bench skills, we also now do our own steam-bending for chair components and other work.
