Tulips and Freesias powder techniques on glass

Glass

Glass drew me in many years ago and I am constantly amazed in the number of ways it can be worked. Professionally I have been a gardener for the past 19 years and counting, so flora plays a huge part in my life and design processes. So this year I am 'Bringing Nature Home'. On first glance glass is a hard and unforgiving material but this pre-conception can be picked apart with a seed of inspiration and a little manipulation it can be encouraged to reveal its softer side. Using glass in its powder form allows me to blend and soften the edges of my design details, giving me the ability to achieve some fabulous results. My current work is kiln formed using a mix of glass powders and sheet glass, all from the Bullseye glass company. All my pieces have had at least two firings and have been lovingly cold worked by hand. I hope they arouse your curiosity and you find the beauty and peace within each piece.
