Sculpture

Relief sculpture in Ancaster stone depicting Jesus going to his crucifixion, created in 2001 as a sample for a commission of a set of 14 sculptures showing the Way of the Cross for St. Teresa's church in Beaconsfield.
As I was growing up my father Anthony Foster worked from home as a sculptor in wood and stone of mostly church work, also carving inscriptions,: so I watched him and later helped him in his work and eventually followed in his footsteps, making a living mostly from carving inscriptions.
From very early on, I found carving inscriptions a form of artistic expression which could work with and within what the inscription was saying and still excites me.
