I am a handwoven textile designer living in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, but I exhibit regularly in Oxfordshire and am a member of the Oxfordshire Craft Guild.
I will be exhibiting and demonstrating on one of my looms, with the potter, Harriet Coleridge and other artists at her studio in Ewelme.
My scarves and shawls are one-off accessories in silk, cashmere, wool and linen in a vibrant colour palette to give a lustrous and iridescent finish. I use colour and texture rather than complex weave structures to achieve this. Travels in South-east Asia are one of my sources of inspiration.
Woven shibori , a Japanese technique, is used to produce permanent pleats in the fabric which create movement of colour from one side of the the scarf to the other.
Ewelme is an historic Oxfordshire village, well known for its fifteenth century church and its connection with Geoffrey Chaucer.
