Branch Up, a youth activity group run by the charity Oxford Hub have created a display of artwork inspired by the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi, which celebrates the repair of broken ceramics by highlighting the breaks in gold. The project, led by artist Francesca Shakespeare, and inspired by the Ashmolean Museum's Japanese collections, involved the breaking, decorating and mending of plates.
You can see the children’s plates outside the Learning Studio in The Ashmolean during opening hours, from May to July (open subject to Covid-19 restrictions).
