Jane initially studied linguistics and German and still loves language, often using favourite poems as an inspiration.
She has a fascination with how people and landscapes weather with time, resulting in the inevitability and beauty of decay as things become transmuted and with the idea that nothing in nature is destroyed for ever but just takes on another form.
In attempting to convey this, Jane builds up layers of translucent oil paint, which she sometimes peels back to reveal what lies beneath. She constantly re-edits the work and may transform it into something unrecognisable from the original. As the work evolves it may reveal or conceal what lies beneath.
Jane’s work is in the West London Catalogue of paintings in the public domain and has been purchased for notable public and private collections. She is an FRSA member and was awarded for her services to the arts in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
