Elaine’s semi-abstract interpretations of wildflower meadows, woodland and hedgerows teem with plant life. Using bold colour, rhythmic mark-making and stylised motifs, she combines elements of landscape with painterly abstraction, interweaving direct observation with imagination to create uplifting yet restful works.
The tumult of the pandemic has led many to seek solace in nature, resulting in an artistic shift with a renewed focus on landscape. Elaine’s work is at the heart of this movement, evoking the essential vitality of a place, immersing us in the landscape and offering a link to the natural world.
Several pieces depict meadows maintained by 'Plantlife', a charity working to save endangered plants and habitats. Elaine would like her work to encourage others to make an emotional connection to these precious places, inspiring us to value and protect the natural world.
‘Every time a piece leaves my studio it’s an ambassador for nature, a little campaign for the environment’.
