I am Darren a disabled artist in Carterton.
In 2012 my whole world changed after an RTC whilst cycling.
Art became my therapy using drawing as my away time from stressful thoughts and dreams. In 2015 I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and a severe brain injury in 2019.
In 2016 during my first year of treatment for my mental disorder I decided to try painting for the first time and I was hooked. I paint with acrylics on a variety of different materials. I like to paint on recycled items like doors and kitchen cupboards and most of them I donate to charities for auctions.
I use painting to suit my moods in many different ways. Abstract expressionism to landscapes.
Either my sister or my wife will be with me in my studio to help with visits as things overwhelm me and tiredness etc.
I hope to welcome you to my studio.
