Susan was born partially blind with a condition that is progressively deteriorating.
She has always loved painting and drawing. She loves nature and the countryside. During the three hours at her weekly Art class she works diligently. If it is from a still life, she studies it by feeling the objects, she then makes several bold charcoal or chalk drawings, followed by a painting. She seems to have a natural sense of design and colour.
Susan is always busy, with her days spent sketching and planning new works. At the weekly classes with the Wychwood Group, she arrives knowing exactly what she wants to attempt. She also knows if it "works" or is a failure. She does large and bold paintings or drawings and experiments with different materials. These days she needs very little guidance. It seems possible that she has gained self confidence from her success in past Artweeks, by being at the site sketching and meeting appreciative people.
